Dutch artist looking for a peaceful and affordable place to live
Mary Mullaney is a Dutch artist currently living in St Mary’s Bay. Due to a change in her personal circumstances, she needs to find another place to live reasonably soon. Mary is particularly looking in Folkestone, Hythe, St Mary’s Bay, Dymchurch, New Romney and the surrounding coastal area.
Mary is deliberately looking beyond the usual property websites, as what she’s looking for does not necessarily have to be a conventional rental property. An annexe, small cottage, converted outbuilding, liveable studio, or an independent part of a larger home could all be possibilities.
What is essential to her is having her own private space, independence, and freedom, while also enjoying having people around and sharing occasional company — companionship, not dependency.
Mary describes herself as independent, a non-smoker, and lover of nature and animals. She is an artist and workshop facilitator and has been developing and teaching what is now called Intuitive Mirror Art for more than 30 years. During that time, Mary has guided hundreds of people through her painting workshops and is still actively developing and teaching her work.
Mary says she is open to a creative or other suitable contribution in return, if there were an arrangement where that felt appropriate and mutually beneficial.
As Folkestone Art Society brings together so many local artists and creative people, Mary wonders whether someone within it might know of a suitable place or perhaps know someone who has this kind of space available or becoming available.

The PoTS Team would also like to cordially invite you along to the fundraiser which will take place at Ali Hodgkinson’s studio, 107 Canterbury Road, Folkestone, on Friday 9th October, 2pm to 8pm, as part of Open Art Folke 2026. The postcards will be displayed anonymously and sold for £20 each, with the artist’s identity revealed only after purchase.

PoTS UK is a small but impactful charity dedicated to supporting people living with Postural Tachycardia Syndrome (PoTS), a condition affecting the autonomic nervous system. PoTS can cause a wide range of symptoms, including dizziness, extreme fatigue, brain fog, palpitations and fainting, often making work, education and everyday activities difficult. The charity provides information, support and advocacy for patients and their families, while working to increase awareness, improve understanding and promote earlier diagnosis of this often overlooked condition. Funds raised through initiatives such as Postcards for PoTS help support PoTS UK's vital work and the thousands of people across the UK whose lives are affected by the condition.
