IMPORTANT INFORMATION – PLEASE READ
Exhibitors’ guidance – The FAS Small Art Show May Exhibition – 2026
Drop off: 11.00-13.00 Wednesday 13th May | Collection: 9:30 -11.00 Tuesday 26th May
- Please print a copy of your completed entry form and bring it with you when you drop off your artwork.
- Artwork must not have been shown at a Folkestone Art Society exhibition before.
- All items are for sale and will need to be labelled clearly – 2D paintings on the back, 3D work should have a label suitably attached. The labels must be firmly attached and not hanging down on show. The labels should state Artist, Title, Media and Price. NB: Please keep your titles short so that they can fit on the business card sized display labels.
- You can enter up to two 2D and/or 3D works to be displayed (with one spare). 2D must be no larger than A4, within an A3 framework. 3D work must be of an appropriate small size (see specific measurements below) given the limited space within the gallery. 2D work can be framed or unframed but must be traditionally strung with D-rings and picture cord (no mirror plate fixings). NB: for health and safety reasons, it is important that 2D pieces are appropriately strung – if not, they may not be displayed. Artworks should be appropriately prepared and ready for sale.
- 2D artwork must be no larger than 45cm x 45cm, including frame, and 3D artwork must be no larger than 30cm at base and 40cm high.
- If you bring a spare 2D piece, please ensure it is wrapped and labelled clearly with your name on the outside. Likewise with a spare 3D piece.
- You can also display up to two browsers at no additional charge. Browsers are unframed paintings that are mounted, wrapped in cellophane (or an environmentally-friendly alternative), no brown tape to be used and clearly labelled with Artist, Title, Media and Price – the same as main exhibits. NB: browsers can only be on paper or in a mount – no work on canvas or in a frame is permitted as these can cause damage to the other browsers.
- You can also enter up to 10 greetings cards at no additional cost. All greetings cards need to be in cellophane (or an environmentally-friendly alternative – with no brown tape used), and labelled with artist and price. Please price your cards to the nearest 50p to help with cash flow constraints, e.g. £2.50 rather than £2.49.
- 2D pieces will be hung on a cords and hook system. There will be plinths for exhibiting 3D pieces and racks for browsers and greetings cards.
- The Society has Public Liability insurance for its events but this does not include cover for the artworks. NB: Insurance for artwork must be arranged by yourself.
- All sales are paid to the society either by cash or card and handled at the ‘stewarding desk’ where there will be one committee member and one exhibiting artist on duty at all times on an agreed rota basis.
- The stewarding rota will be available on drop off day for you to sign up for a slot. Please offer to help if you can.
- All sold items can either be taken away at the time of purchase or collected during opening hours or on collection day. They will be wrapped accordingly, but for sculptures we advise that you bring your own packaging and boxes as they may be very fragile, and again these boxes must be clearly labelled.
- Please ensure you come and collect your work on Monday 26th May between 9:30 am and 11am.
- Artists will be paid for any work they have sold once we have consolidated the finances after the exhibition is closed. NB: 25% commission is deducted from all sales.
- Lastly, the preview is on Wednesday 13th May, between 5:30pm and 8pm, for artists, guests and members.
