Artist: Rob McDonald

We welcome Rob to lead a masterclass which will look at; Experimental Observational Drawing, Painting and Printmaking workshop.

The workshop will question what defines a drawing and will investigate this notion by exploring mark making by using a wide variety of drawing tools and mediums, building your understanding of what each drawing tool
can offer and express. Mark making can greatly convey what you are feeling and observing through a differentiation in the weight of line, the density of the mark to tonal contrasts and textures.

We will start with a series of warm up experimental exercises to develop
your observational skills.

We will then build a large scale collaborative layered final piece using
a wide variety of processes and drawing mediums including relief
printmaking, (creating a series of stamps).

The workshop will also help develop your understanding about
compositional values, through the use of scale, tone, texture and
colour. You will gain an appreciation of how you and others see and
interpret your surroundings by collaborative work to develop a large
scale interpretation and representation of local foliage and fauna.

The workshop will also help develop your understanding about
compositional values, through the use of scale, tone, texture and
colour.
